Mr Kuang Hu, MA MB BChir PhD FRCOphth, completed his medical degree and research doctorate at the University of Cambridge before training in Ophthalmology on the London Registrar rotation. He is a Consultant Ophthalmologist at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and a Director at Infinity Eye Clinic.
His expertise encompasses small-incision cataract surgery and the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma. Mr Hu specialises in glaucoma in adults in all its forms, including primary open angle glaucoma, angle closure glaucoma, and the secondary glaucomas including pseudoexfoliative, pigment dispersion, neovascular and uveitic. He also manages ocular hypertension, a condition which predisposes to the development of glaucoma. Mr Hu provides medical, laser and surgical treatments for glaucoma, including Trabectome minimally-invasive glaucoma surgery, trabeculectomy and aqueous shunts.

For 56 consecutive cataract cases performed by Mr Hu over the 12 month period to December 2016, an audit shows that more patients had good vision after surgery (that is, visual acuity of 6/6 or better) compared to national benchmarks.
Regarding surgical complications, Mr Hu’s posterior capsule rupture rate for all operations was zero, which is better than the consultant benchmark of 1.6%. His overall intraoperative complication rate was 3.6% versus the national standard of 3.5%.
